The Lough Easkey Loop walk, within easy distance of Ballina is an enjoyable walk around a beautiful lake inr the shadow of the Ox Mountains. From its trailhead the walk quickly leaves the minor access road onto a lakeshore track and soon to a bridge over the Easkey River as it flows out from the lake. As usual in the West of Ireland the quickly changing atmospheric conditions mean that the calm lake surfac is soon rippled in a light breeze while the lake colour varies from greys to blues and back again
