This walk brings you through part of the South Eastern slopes of the Ox Mountains near Foxford, through an area that has evidence of habitation since the Stone Age with the remains of megalithic tombs, ring forts from the late the Bronze age and the Early Christian period as well as later stone built Christian Churches.
All of these sited in an area with spectacular views westwards to the Nephin Mountains and Lough Conn and panoramic views East and South towards Roscommon. The walk starts and finishes at Prebaun and for some of the route we follow the Mayo waymarked path however we divert to view additional sights.
